Finding Your Safe Place – A Guided Mindfulness Exercise
This exercise is designed to help soothe the stress system in our brains. If we have a feeling of safety that we can generate through exercises like this, we can more easily feel calm, relaxed, content, caring – healthy and happy!
It is based on the work of Dr Paul Gilbert who is the creator of a highly regarded mindful compassion program, Compassion Focused Therapy, and we are grateful that he has given us permission to use this and another of his practices in our program.
Don’t worry if your safe place takes a while to become clear. The practice of mindfully exploring images of your safe place is soothing in itself.
